About

Hi, my name is Marianne Westacott. I grew up in Groningen, The Netherlands where as a kid I would beg my mum and dad to take me horse riding from a very young age. At age 9 I must have finally worn them down and I started regular lessons at our local riding school. Along with my passion for all things equine, I have also always been extremely concerned with the plight of all other animals. Combine this with a love of drawing and we have the basic ingredients of who I am today.

In 2003 I moved to Cairns, Australia and was immediately struck by its unique, breathtakingly beautiful and awe-inspiring flora and fauna. In 2013, whilst living in Brisbane I rekindled my passion for horses and purchased my very own real life horse, a Lipizzaner by the name of Ziggy.

I work as an art-director for a design studio in Brisbane. A few years ago, as a method of relieving stress, I got myself reacquainted with my beloved coloured pencils and started drawing again.

My work strives to capture the uniqueness and individuality of the subject displayed in each reference photograph. All my drawings are created using professional coloured pencils and top quality paper.
